Consciously uncoupled, but I would like those payouts, thank you!

So I’m in my “NO” era. There is something subversive about being single in Singapore. It’s not exactly a life template anyone in the family before me modelled. It feels like a liminal space.

Not quite a householder!
Not quite the wandering bohemian either (though in this economy and corporate culture, I am close to aspiring to it)!

Just a citizen building a life in a place of one’s own, policy permitting. Not to mention that we’ve been growing in number over the last few years. Fret not, we are accounted for in the Budget .

Here’s what’s in Budget 2026 for singles.

So, if you were looking forward to similar payouts in 2025 (ahem, also an election year), sorry to burst your bubble!

Budget 2026 is less about broad handouts and more about long-term support: upskilling, productivity, and targeted cost-of-living relief.

That said, there’s still some help on the table!

Cost-of-Living Relief

Here’s what you can look forward to lighten the rising cost-of-living:

S$500 in CDC vouchers

Singaporean households will receive $500 in CDC vouchers in January 2027. A little less than in 2025, when households got a total of $800.

Half of the vouchers can be used at participating supermarkets. The other half can be spent at participating merchants and hawkers.

Cost-of-Living special payments (S$200–$400)

Eligible Singaporeans can look forward to another round of the Cost-of-Living Special payment. This payment, albeit slightly lower than in 2025, will provide some relief for living expenses.

Singaporeans aged 21 and above are eligible. They must have an assessable income up to $100,000. They also must not own more than one property. Should you meet the criteria, you can expect to receive $200 to $400 in September 2026.

How much will you be getting? That is dependent on your income.

Enhanced U-Save rebates

More rebate credits to help reduce regular monthly bills. Eligible HDB households will receive up to $570 in U-Save rebates for the 2026 financial year.

This amount will cover about 5 months of utility bills for households with 1- or 2-room flats. It will also cover around 2 months of bills for those in 3- or 4-room flats. The extra U-Save will be credited together with regular GSTV-U-Save in April 2026 and July 2026.

Upskilling & Jobs Support

Budget 2026 prioritises workforce readiness for emerging technologies, particularly AI adoption and practical digital skills. This matters if you’re thinking about career progression or mid-career transitions.

6 months’ free access to premium AI tools

Singaporeans who sign up for selected SkillsFuture AI courses will get 6 months of free access to premium AI tools.

Workforce Singapore x SkillsFuture

SkillsFuture and Workforce Singapore will be merged into a “one-stop hub” to make training more accessible. This helps singles in the workforce stay competitive / pivot careers.

More details will be announced soon.

Longer-Term Savings & CPF Options

Budget 2026 presents new ideas. Some are slated for later years. These include new CPF investment options. These options will give singles more avenues for long-term savings growth.
